Owen Sound Sees Fewer Collisions In 2016

Owen Sound police investigated 540 collision in 2016, which is a decrease over the past few years.

And nearly 11% of crashes can be linked to driver inattentiveness.

The top ten intersections for collisions include eight intersections along the 10th St. corridor. The other two crash-prone areas were on 16th St. E at 16th Ave. E, and at 9th Ave. E.

Police says all of the locations have high traffic volume.

Police say there were no fatal collisions in the city in 2016, however, nine collisions involved pedestrians and five involved cyclists.

In 2015 there were 588 collisions reported.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
