Downtown Brussels Renderings At Open House

An open house for a community improvement plan for downtown Brussels generated a lot of interest this week.

Huron East Economic Development Officer Jan Hawley explains most of the buildings on the main street in Brussels are structurally sound and have historical significance, but need a little dressing up.

A heritage architect has created renderings comparing the existing storefronts to what they could look like if the owners wanted to restore their buildings with that vintage, Victorian, 19th century feel.

Hawley says they'll have one more open house and then a proposal will go to Huron East council for funding for the community improvement plan.

That program would provide matching funding to the property owners to help them make building improvements.
