Dutchmen Double Elmira in Game 1 of Conference Semifinal

Connor Cole struck twice in the third period to lift Kitchener over Elmira 4-2 in game one of their GOJHL Conference Semifinal.

Elmira's Jake Brown opened the scoring with a power play goal at 7:33 of the opening frame.

Logan Schmidt tied the game on the power play at 5:35 of the second before Mitch Hoelscher put the Sugar Kings ahead again with a short handed goal at 9:11 of the period. Austin Gaboury answered for Kitchener with a short handed goal of his own assisted by Sam Shaw at 16:02.

Cole's game winner game at 2:48 of the third and he added insurance midway through the final frame.

The Dutchmen were 1-10 on the power play while the Sugar Kings went 1-6.

Jackson McIntosh earned the win with 26 saves. Jonathan Reinhart stopped 29 shots for Elmira.

Game 2 is Saturday at 5 p.m. in Kitchener.
