A Mississauga man has been fined a total of $3,500 for hunting offences that occurred last fall in Mapleton Township.
The Ontario Court of Justice Guelph heard that last October 22, conservation officers were notified by the OPP that a vehicle had been damaged in a hunting incident.
Through their investigation, the officers determined that a hunter shot at a flying pheasant, in the direction of a road.
The shot hit a passing vehicle, causing significant damage. The two occupants in the vehicle were not injured.
The Mississauga man pleaded guilty and was fined $3,000 for discharging a firearm while hunting without reasonable consideration for people or property. An additional fine of $500 was levied for unlawfully discharging a firearm across a travelled roadway.
He will be required to successfully complete the Ontario Hunter Education Course before hunting in the province again.
