Ontario Provincial Police are assisting in the investigation of a death at a Goderich salt mine.
It happened Saturday morning at Compass Minerals. Authorities say a contractor suffered an emergency and was given medical assistance by on-site personnel. The contractor was later transported to a local hospital where he later died.
The Ontario Ministry of Labour is also on site trying to determine what happened. The OPP says the scene has been secured and all underground staff have been cleared from the mine while the investigation takes place.
The contractor has not been identified. A post-mortem is set to take place on Monday.
