The Town of Goderich is putting any further development of what was the Victoria Street Public School property on hold.
Construction will start soon on a new hotel on part of the property, but Mayor Kevin Morrison says they still have about six acres left and they have had some inquiries from people who are interested in that property.
Morrison believes it's in the town's best interest to put a hold on the property for now and see what emerges once the hotel is built.
The mayor adds there is a possibility the county might be interested in some of the land for municipal buildings, so it would make sense to have that land available if that happens.
