SBGHC Birthing Centre Sets Record For Deliveries

There's a baby boom in parts of Bruce and Grey counties.

The Family Birthing Centre of the South Bruce Grey Health Centre welcomed 447 babies between April 1 of 2016 and March 31 of this year.

That's a record for the number of deliveries at the facility. It's up from 418 in 2015-2016 and 403 in 2014-2015.

The South Bruce Grey Health Centre is now one of the highest volume low-risk birthing centres in the province.

The Family Birthing Centre features six suites where expectant mothers receive one-on-one nursing care through their labours.

"This program is a centre of excellence for obstetrical care in our region," says SBGHC President and CEO Paul Rosebush. "We take great pride in the care that we provide patients and families for such an important milestone. Our staff truly make the difference."
