Cold Water Training Inquest To Start In May

The inquest into the deaths of two men who died during firefighter cold water rescue training in Hanover and Sarnia will start in May.

Adam Brunt, a 30-year-old volunteer firefighter from Bowmanville, died after becoming trapped underneath the ice, while training in the Saugeen River in February of 2015.

Gary Kendall, 51, also died during a training exercise in January 2010, when he too was trapped under the ice.

The inquest will examine the events surrounding their deaths and the jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The inquest will hear from approximately 15 to 18 witnesses, and will start on May 9 in Toronto. It's expected to last two weeks.
