Goderich Teen Arrested For Bringing Weapon To School

A Goderich teen is facing charges after allegedly bringing an edged weapon to her high school.

Huron County Ontario Provincial Police say on Friday around 12:20pm, officers attended Goderich District Collegiate Institute (GDCI) on South St. after receiving a report that a student had brought a weapon to the school.

Another individual was assaulted on school grounds as well, but was not injured.

A 13-year-old girl was arrested at GDCI after she was allegedly found to be in possession of the edged weapon. She has since been charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.  The teen remains in police custody with a court appearance scheduled for Saturday.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
