Southgate Schedules Public Meeting On Waste-To-Gas Plant Proposal

A public meeting will be held later this month to see what Southgate residents think about a proposal for a plant to convert agricultural waste into natural gas.

Petawawa Renewable Energy of Orangeville wants to build the plant in the Dundalk Eco Industrial Park. It will be similar to one now operating in Chatsworth.

Company spokesman Mark Bell promised the plant will not bother Dundalk homeowners with noise or smell.

Bell says if all goes well the plant could be operational by late 2018.

The public meeting is scheduled for April 25.
