New Physician Joins GBHS Southampton ER

The Southampton hospital will soon have a new doctor.

Dr. Andrew Jeffery is completing his emergency medicine residency through Queen's University, and will be finished at the end of June.

Dr. Jeffery, who is originally from Manitoulin Island, has decided to start his career by practicing in the Southampton Emergency Room.  He has hopes of eventually setting up a part time family practice in the area.

"We are pleased that Dr. Jeffery has decided to return to this area to practice," said Lance Thurston, president and CEO of Grey Bruce Health Services. "His specialized training in Emergency Medicine will be an asset to our busy Emergency Department, and he will soon get to work in our Southampton Hospital’s brand new ER."

The combined recruitment efforts of Grey Bruce Health Services, the Town of Saugeen Shores, the Town of Kincardine and Bruce Power succeeded in attracting Dr. Jeffery and his partner Katy, a practicing physiotherapist, to Southampton.
