Distracted Driving Targeted In Owen Sound

Four drivers in Owen Sound will soon be feeling a financial pinch.

They were charged Monday as part of a traffic enforcement initiative in downtown Owen Sound.

Officers were specifically watching for drivers who were observed using their cell phones.

Four individuals were charged with Use Handheld Communication Device. This offence under the Highway Traffic Act carries a fine of $490 and three demerit points.

The Owen Sound Police Service will continue to target aggressive and distracted driving as part of their spring Traffic Enforcement Program.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
