Sugar Kings Take 3-1 Lead in Sutherland Cup Semifinal

Klayton Hoelscher had a hat trick, including the game winner, in the Elmira Sugar Kings 4-3 win over Caledonia. The Sugar Kings lead their Sutherland Cup Semifinal series 3-1.

Hoelscher opened the scoring midway through the first period, assisted by Quinten Bruce. Brandon Lindberg answered for the Corvairs with back-to-back goals to give Caledonia a 2-1 lead heading into the second period.

Hoelscher tied the game on the power play at 5:52 of the second, assisted by Jeff Jordan. Hoelscher helped set up Jake Brown's power play goal at 13:32 of the middle frame and then fired the eventual game winner into the Corvairs' net just over three minutes later. Ryan Punkari scored late in the second for Caledonia. Both teams were held scoreless in the third period.

Jonathan Reinhart stopped 44 shots to earn the win. Daniel Chenard made 32 saves for Caledonia.

Game 5 is Friday night in Caledonia.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
