Meaford Students Hike Friday For Earth Day

Students at Ecole St. Vincent-Euphrasia Elementary School in Meaford will be going for a hike on Friday.

It's the Bruce Calvert Earth Day Hike for Conservation, as part of Earth Week celebrations.

It was started by Bruce Calvert in 2008, while he was director of Grey Sauble Conservation Foundation.

Bruce organized the hike to get children outside on Earth Day to appreciate nature as well as raise money for their school and the Grey Sauble Conservation Foundation.

Over the past eight years, this event has raised over $20,000.

Barbetta Orchards Ltd. donates healthy snacks for the students, and the OPP and crossing guards provide assistance for the event.
