Sugar Kings Advance to the Sutherland Cup

The Elmira Sugar Kings rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Caledonia and advance to the GOJHL's Sutherland Cup.

Brandon Lindberg opened the scoring at 7:05 of the first period on the power play to give the Corvair's a 1-0 lead heading into the second. Quentin Maksimovich scored just 53 seconds into the second to make it 2-0.

Mitch Hoelscher put the Sugar Kings on the board at 12:31 and Jacob Black scored the equalizer at 14:54. Ethan Skinner's power play goal with 50 seconds left in the middle frame stood as the game winner.

Jonathan Reinhart made 42 saves to earn the victory. Daniel Chenard stopped 30 shots for the Corvairs.

Elmira will battle the London Nationals for the Sutherland Cup.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
