Attack Beat Otters for 2-1 Lead in Western Conference Final

Ethan Szypula struck twice and set up another in the Owen Sound Attack's 6-3 victory over Erie. The Attack now lead the OHL Western Conference final 2-1.

Michael McNiven turned aside 32 shots in the win. Troy Timpano stopped 22 shots for the Otters.

Jordan Sambrook opened the scoring early for the Otters at 4:20 of the first period. Petrus Palmu answered for the Attack just over two minutes later. Jacob Friend fired one past Timpano just over a minute after Palmu's goal to put the Attack up 2-1 heading into the second.

Szypula's first goal of the game came at 2:04 of the second assisted by Maksim Sushko. Taylor Raddysh scored midway through the period and Alex Debrincat tied the game for Erie with 51 seconds left in the period.

Sushko scored what would stand as the game winner at 9:04 of the third. Szypula's second goal of the game gave the Attack some insurance at 15:30 and Palmu scored on the power play on an empty Otter's net at 19:42.

Nick Suzuki set up three of the Attack's goals and now has 21 points in the post season.

Game 4 is Wednesday in Owen Sound at 7pm.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
