Tree Planting Tuesday At Fairy Lake

The Fairy Lake Restoration Project in Saugeen Shores is moving to the next phase.

After the removal of trees infected with Emerald Ash Borer this past winter, new trees are being planted.

The Town of Saugeen Shores with assistance from SauGREEN and local schools will begin this phase Tuesday with the planting of 22 large trees and approximately 150 seedlings throughout the forested area.

Species include red oak, silver maple, sugar maple, hemlock, white spruce, burr oak, and hackberry, as well as others.

Students from Saugeen District Secondary School and G.C. Huston will be assisting with the planting.

The larger trees will ensure the forest regenerates quickly, while the seedlings will help recreate the natural forest environment.
