Meaford Council To Study Bridge Closures Again

Meaford council is taking a second look at an earlier decision to close and remove two bridges in the Walter's Falls area.

A resident of the area has asked Meaford to save Bridges 21 and 22. He says farmers are finding it difficult and time-consuming to use other bridges in the Walter's Falls area.

But an environmental assessment report presented earlier this month made the same recommendation as that contained in a State of the Infrastructure Report council adopted in June 2016.

Engineers who prepared that report found the bridges had deteriorated so badly they were no longer safe to cross.  The report recommended Meaford close and remove the two bridges on the Holland-Sydenham Townline Rd.

Meaford councillors agreed to study the report further.
