OSUM Delegates At Blue Mountain Resort

The Town of the Blue Mountains is in the provincial spotlight.  The town is hosting the annual Ontario Small Urban Municipalities conference.

Over 130 representatives from small urban municipalities have registered, and there are 46 exhibitors signed up for the trade show.

Opening ceremonies were held Wednesday evening in the Village Conference Centre at the Blue Mountain Resort.    The conference runs Thursday and Friday.

The theme this year is "Rural Meets Urban," recognizing the challenge many municipalities face as their areas become increasingly urbanized through growth and the migration of people from larger cities.

Pressure points include coping with increasing development, managing the expectations of urban residents, or handling the challenge of new homes being built near working farms.
