Owen Sound Hosts Sidewalk Artists

Downtown Owen Sound sidewalks will be transformed this weekend as "Chalk-A-Block" hits city streets.

Ten sidewalk sections between the DIA offices and Carney's Lane will be reserved to create a temporary public display.

Artists will be creating chalk masterpiece between 4 and 7pm on Friday. Downtown merchants will open their doors from 6pm-9pm on Friday with specials, events and music.

If you would like to participate there is still space available, though it is limited.

You can pre-register for the Chalk Art competition at the DIA Office at 854 2nd Ave. E.

Carney's Lane will also be available for children to make their own chalk marks.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
