Minto Bringing In Pedestrian 'Crossovers'

Minto is joining a Wellington County initiative to make it safer, particularly for children, to cross the road.

It means doing away with school crossing as they are now known and replacing them with specially painted and signed "crossovers."

Existing school crosswalks are only in effect for a few hours each day on school days when crossing guards are present.

The new crossovers will work for pedestrians 24-7.

Minto plans to keep the crossing guards in place for school hours.

The plan has been endorsed by the Wellington OPP.
