Revenue Canada Scam Surfaces In Bruce County

Scammers claiming to be from Revenue Canada are targeting local residents, just a few days after the income tax return deadline.

South Bruce OPP say a caller attempted to con a Brockton resident Wednesday.

The caller, who claimed to be from Revenue Canada, told the resident this was a final warning, and an arrest warrant was being issued for back taxes. Fortunately the resident recognized it as a scam.

Police say tech savvy scammers use technology to create convincing schemes to trick you out of your money. They often use the name of a real company to get you to send funds or personal information.
