STEAM Faire Captivates Bruce Grey Catholic Students

The Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board welcomed 1,200 students to a STEAM Faire in Hanover Friday.

The Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math Fair at the P&H Centre helps students and staff explore by making, doing, and learning through hands on experiences.

Technology in Learning Consultant Leslie Boerkamp says there were 64 different activities, workshops and demonstrations for participants at the P&H Centre.

"We have a battle bot ring, we have introduction to 3D printing, there's virtual reality, and learn to sew. We have our St. John's Bible her for students to look at. We have toy hacking and squishy circuits," says Boerkamp

The various stations coincide with a vast number of curriculum connections.

Boerkamp says the kids are having a lot of fun learning

"The kids are saying it's the best day ever! The energy is loud, there's a buzz in every room. The students are literally skipping up and down the stairs and through the halls. They just can't get enough," Boerkamp adds.

Around 170 volunteers are helping at the day of discovery for all Grade 3 to 6 students in the board.
