Dutch Princess Arrives In Goderich Sunday

Royalty will be arriving in Goderich this weekend.

Jim Rutledge is a Co-Chair of the Dutch-Canadians-Remember As One Committee and he's been working for four years to get Princess Margriet of the Netherlands to make an official visit to Goderich.

He was able to confirm this week that Princess Margriet will arrive in Stratford on Saturday, May 13th and then travel to Goderich on Sunday, May 14th.

Rutledge says Princess Margriet will arrive at Liberation Park, near the tourist booth, around 2:30 Sunday afternoon, where she'll unveil a plaque and view a static display of World War II vehicles on Hamilton Street.

From there, a motorcade will take her to the Trinity Christian Reformed Church for an informal reception and a chance for her to talk with some of the veterans.

Rutledge says a commemorative plaque will be unveiled and signed at the church and then there will be a concert.
