Pets Perish In Grey Highlands Cooking Fire

Grey County OPP say a house fire in Grey Highlands started by a pot of cooking oil left unattended on the stove.

The Municipality of Grey Highlands Fire Department was called to a home on Napoleon St in Eugenia, at around 1pm on Wednesday. Fire officials say the cooking oil started fire and the room became engulfed in flames.

Police say two women, aged 47 and 27, a 31 year old man, and a 7-month-old infant made it out safely.

Two dogs and a cat perished in the blaze.

The fire is not considered suspicious.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
