Holding Pattern For Avon Maitland Reviews

The Avon Maitland District School Board will not conduct any accommodation reviews this year.

Superintendent of Corporate Services Janet Baird-Jackson says the board is required every year to review all of the pertinent information.

"Board policy 15 requires there be an annual review of all of our data," says Baird-Jackson. "In terms of enrollment, status of our buildings, the utilization, all of that."

It was clear to the trustees after reviewing all of the information that schools in some areas were going to be under pressure over the next few years, but that wasn't a surprise given enrolment projections for the next 15 years.

"They appreciated the highlighting of all of the areas of concern which really aren't a change from the past couple of years," says Baird-Jackson.
