Firefighter Training Inquest Verdict

A verdict is expected on Thursday in a coroner's inquest looking into the deaths of two Ontario men during firefighter training exercises, one of them in Hanover.

Adam Brunt, a firefighting student, drowned in February 2015 while training in the ice on the Saugeen River. Five years earlier, Gary Kendall, a veteran volunteer firefighter, died during ice rescue courses near Sarnia.

The inquest has lasted two weeks.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
