AMDSB Considering Busing Changes In Clinton Area

The Avon Maitland District School Board has confirmed it won't be conducting any accommodation reviews this year.

But Superintendent of Corporate Services Janet Baird-Jackson says the board will be considering some changes, like moving some Grade 7 and 8 students to Central Huron Secondary School in Clinton.  The move will address enrolment pressures in neighbouring elementary schools.

Baird-Jackson points out enrolment is a major factor in accommodation reviews, but other things are considered by both the board and the Ministry of Education, and one of those things is proximity to the next school.

Baird-Jackson says that's a problem that most urban schools don't have to deal with, but can significantly extend the time on a bus for students in rural communities.
