Huron County Planning Director Takes OMB Position

Huron County's director of planning is taking on a new challenge.

After 32 years with the county -- 17 of them as planning director -- Scott Tousaw has accepted a position with the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB).

Tousaw says he has been interested in the intersection of planning and law for some time and there is no place where those two come together more often than at the OMB.

Tousaw will be one of 17 members of the OMB who conduct mediation hearings across the province.

He says the move comes at an interesting time as the province has announced some changes in the legislation that will give more weight to the decisions of municipalities in OMB hearings, as well as limit the things that be appealed to the OMB.

Tousaw's last day with Huron County will be this Friday.
