Huron OPP Investigating Snowmobile Shack Arson

Huron County OPP and the Huron OPP Crime Unit continue to investigate an arson that destroyed a snowmobile shack in Huron East.

On May 20 just before 8:30pm, Huron County OPP and firefighters from Grey Township Fire arrived at the scene to find the snowmobile shack fully engulfed in flames. Fire crews extinguished the blaze, but the building was deemed a loss.

The 20 ft by 35 ft shack is regularly used as a clubhouse by snowmobilers, and was valued at around $20,000.

Police have deemed the fire an arson.

Witnesses say they saw a large group of ATVs in the area prior to the fire.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
