UPDATE: Crash In Minto Claims Life Of Woman

A 25-year-old South Bruce woman has been identified as the victim of a fatal single-vehicle crash on Hwy. 9 in Minto.

The OPP say Jodi Lynn Whitehead was killed when the 2007 Dodge Ram pickup truck she was in veered into a ditch, hit a tree, and caught fire at around 11:30pm Wednesday night.

A passerby and two nearby homeowners succeeded in removing the driver and a baby, but were unable to rescue Whitehead.

The 21-year-old male driver was airlifted to Hamilton with serious injuries, while the baby was treated for minor injuries, and released from hospital.

The collision closed Hwy. 9 between Ayton Rd. and the 14th Line for several hours.

The Wellington County OPP is asking anyone that may have witnessed this collision to please call 1-888-310-1122. Anyone knowing the identity of the passerby that assisted at the collision is also asked to call as he left the scene prior to officers learning his identity.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
