UPDATE: School Bus Hit Near London, Driver Charged

Charges have been laid against the driver of a school bus that collided with a dump truck and SUV east of London.

Middlesex OPP were called to the crash on Nissouri Rd. at Evelyn Dr. just after 2:30pm Wednesday. The bus, which had been heading south on Nissouri Rd., was hit on the passenger side by a green dump truck as it turned onto Evelyn Dr. The school vehicle then hit an SUV which was stopped at a stop sign.

The six students on the bus, ranging in age from 14 to 19, were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The bus driver, a 40-year-old London woman, was airlifted to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. She has since been released.

The London woman behind the wheel of the SUV was also treated for non-life threatening injuries, while the male dump truck driver was not hurt.

The crash closed the intersection for roughly two and a half hours.

The bus driver is now charged with making a left turn failing to afford reasonable opportunity to avoid collision.
