Another Successful Huron County Law Enforcement Torch Run

The 30th annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics made its way through Huron County Tuesday.

The torch run left Wingham at about 9am and passed through Blyth and Clinton on the way to a noon hour barbeque at McGee Motors in Goderich.

Goderich Lions President Gary Blenkhorn presented some of the participants in the Special Olympics with a cheque for $5,000.

This was also the 20th torch run for co-ordinator OPP Sergeant Russ Nesbitt.

Nesbitt says it takes a lot of work to keep something like the torch run going in a rural community. He adds it's also so rewarding, it's not difficult not to keep doing it.

Since the OPP torch runs started in 1987 in Canada, over $35-million has been raised in Ontario.
