Successful Fundraiser For Crime Stoppers Grey Bruce

Organizers have added up the funds raised at the Crime Stoppers Grey Bruce Golf Tournament.

The 25th annual tournament took place at the Southampton Golf And Country Club earlier this month. Around $25,000 was raised, which will cover about 25% of the annual budget for the local program.

The sun shone, hockey stars joined in, and in all 164 golfers help make the event a success.

Toronto Maple Leafs legends Wendel Clark, Billy Derlago and Tom Fergus were on hand.

Crime Stoppers' anonymous tip line has lead to $51.9-million in seized narcotics and stolen property. The program has received over 13,000 tips since it began in 1987.

Trillium Mutual Insurance and Waterloo Brewing Company were among many business stepping up to help support the cause.

"The success of our golf tournament is a testament to the commitment of our community who want to make our twin counties a safer place to live," says program chair Elizabeth Egerdeen.
