Elderly Woman Struck And Killed By Vehicle In Hanover

An elderly man has been charged after an 83-year-old woman was struck and killed by a vehicle in Hanover.

The Hanover Police Service says on Tuesday around noon, the vehicle was turning east onto 10th St. from 7th Ave. when it struck the woman.

The 83-year-old woman, Beatrice Gaeler of Hanover, was rushed to hospital but succumbed to her injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, an 89-year-old Elmwood area resident, was taken to hospital and treated for shock before being released. He has since been charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian.
