Huron County council voted 9-4 in a recorded vote to approve a request from its Economic Development Board to hire a consultant to conduct a review of how the county delivers its services.
Some councillors were still concerned that this was the next step towards single-tier government, but others pointed out that the survey would simply ask questions with no pre-determined outcome.
It was also pointed out whatever recommendations were made by the consultant would still have to come back to county council for approval.
