Perth County OPP Concerned For Pedestrian And Cyclist Safety

Perth County OPP are reminding everyone about safety for pedestrians and cyclists.

Earlier this month, a young child on a bike was riding out of a driveway and was hit by an SUV on Queen St. in Palmerston. The cyclist had a helmet on and was treated in hospital for minor injuries.

Motorists are reminded to use extra caution as there will be more children out playing and riding bicycles

Drivers should not assume a pedestrian or a person on a bicycle can see or hear the vehicle.

Cyclists should wear approved, properly fitted bicycle helmets.

Pedestrians and cyclists should avoid wearing headphones;or texting while walking or cycling. And police suggest people always make eye contact with the driver
