Owen Sound Youth Charged in Thefts From Vehicles

A 14-year-old Owen Sound boy faces a bail hearing Thursday on theft charges.

The suspect was identified from surveillance video provided by an Alpha St resident who called in a report Wednesday morning of property being taken from his unlocked vehicle, Owen Sound police say.

The suspect, who is not being identified since he is a minor, was arrested Wednesday afternoon. Police say the investigation found he was allegedly responsible for at least another theft incident.

The charges are two counts each of theft under $5000, possession of stolen property and trespass by night. He also faces four counts of breach of probation and one count of unauthorized use of a credit card.

Police are urging people to make sure their vehicles are locked and contents not left in view.
