Clifford Man Charged With DUI In Fordwich

A 35-year-old man from Clifford has been charged with drunk driving.

During a traffic stop in Fordwich on July 19 just before 9pm, a Wellington County OPP officer was called to a Ministry of Transportation commercial vehicle inspector with a traffic stop at the intersection of Harriston Rd. (County Rd. 87) and Fordwich Line.

While interviewing the driver, the officer noticed the smell of alcohol on his breath. A roadside screening test was conducted, which the driver failed. He was arrested and taken to the North Wellington OPP detachment, where he allegedly blew over the legal limit.

Steven Topham, 35, from Clifford has been charged with driving a vehicle with over 80 mg of alcohol in his blood. He has been released and has a scheduled court appearance in Goderich for August 21. His license was suspended 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.
