Saugeen Shores Man Charged In DUI Hit-And-Run

A 55-year-old man from Saugeen Shores has been charged after a collision this past weekend.

At 10:36am on August 5, Huron County OPP responded to a report of a crash that occurred on Bluewater Veteran's Highway (Hwy. 21) near Zion Rd. A Ford F-150 pick-up sideswiped the complainant's vehicle, and fled the scene after trying to complete a pass. Huron County OPP intercepted the suspect in Goderich. It was discovered there that the suspect had been drinking, and further tests confirmed he was over the legal limit.

As a result, 55-year-old Ronald McCan of Saugeen Shores was charged with driving a vehicle with over 80 mg of alcohol in his blood, driving while disqualified and failing to remain at the scene of a collision. He was later released and is scheduled to appear in court on August 21 in Goderich. His license was suspended 90 days and his vehicle was towed.
