New Safety Signs In West Perth

West Perth has two new speed enforcement signs as children and older students begin their school year.

The electronic speed display is set up on Ontario Rd. for drivers entering the downtown from the east.

It's a collaborative effort between the Municipality of West Perth, the Mitchell Business Association, and the Perth County OPP.

A second sign will be placed along Frances Street to remind drivers to slow down.

And a new life-sized image of a child with the words "Please slow down for my safety" has been erected at Upper Thames Elementary School by Perth County OPP.

"We're trying to bring awareness to drivers that as students return to school, we must remember the rules of the road," says Sergeant Manny Coehlo.
