Libro Credit Union Announces Local Prosperity Fund Recipients

Southwestern Ontario's largest credit union is giving money away on Thursday.

Libro Credit Union is presenting cheques to the recipients of its 2017 Prosperity Fund in parts of Bruce, Huron and Perth counties.

The Teeswater Agricultural Society's Raise the Roof project will receive $5,000.

The Township of North Huron is getting $5,000 toward the upgrades to Wingham Town Hall Theatre.

The Optimist Club of Bayfield is getting $5,000 toward an education program.

The Camp Menesetung Pay-It-Forward Initiative is getting $10,000.  That presentation is being made at the Libro Goderich branch.

In Seaforth, the Huron Manufacturing Association Student Bus Tours will receive $5,000.

And in Stratford Thursday afternoon, the Local Community Food Centre will be presented with a cheque for $18,000 to go toward expansion of the Community Access Market.

Libro’s annual grant program will invest $460,000 this year to support programs and projects across southwestern Ontario that are helping to grow prosperity in three focus areas: regional economic development, youth leadership, and money-smarts.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
