IPM Expected To Benefit All Of Huron County

The warden of Huron County says the economic impact of the International Plowing Match extends far beyond the host municipality.

The site of this year's match is Walton and the municipality of Huron East will obviously benefit from around 100,000 people visiting the Match.

“The number of people that come to an event like this is many times our population and a big event like this will have impact right across the county whether people are coming from the south and stop in Exeter or coming from the north and stop in Wingham, businesses along the way certainly benefit," says Warden Jim Ginn. “The number of people that go in the trailer park is large as well. It's interesting that a lot of the trailers actually move from the Thresher's Reunion to the Plowing Match, so they will be in our area for perhaps a couple of weeks so it's all part of the economy and it all helps.”

The International Plowing Match runs from September 19 to 23.
