UPDATE: Victim Identified In Hwy. 6 Crash

One person is dead following a two-vehicle crash on Hwy. 6 near Varney.

The Ontario Provincial Police say on Friday shortly before 2pm, a dump truck and a passenger vehicle collided between Southgate Rd. 8 and Southgate Rd. 12 in the Township of Southgate.

The male driver and only occupant of the passenger vehicle was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The OPP has identified the driver as 39-year-old Robert Cher of London.

The driver of the dump truck, a 53-year old man from Listowel, was not injured.

Hwy. 6 between Roads 12 and 8 was closed for several hours while officers conducted an investigation. The road was reopened to traffic just before 11pm.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
