Meaford Prepares For Scarecrow Invasion

Hundreds of homemade scarecrows decorate downtown Meaford to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday.

They are dressed as pioneers, lumberjacks, fur traders, voyageurs, athletes, soldiers, artists, inventor or others who made Canada great. They're the creations of over 300 volunteers from Meaford and surrounding areas.

The highlight of the Scarecrow Invasion this weekend will be the parade and Family Festival.

The parade Friday evening starts at 6pm on Sykes St. and the family festival follows at 6:30pm at the Rotary Harbour Pavilion.

The weekend festival includes the Apple Harvest Craft Show on Saturday and Sunday at the community centre and curling club.
