More than two dozen hunting-related charges and warnings were issued in a two-day enforcement blitz at the Hullet Marsh Provincial Wildlife Area.
During the opening days of the hunting season for waterfowl and small game, conservation officers, along with a Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry canine unit, checked 199 waterfowl and small game hunters.
Officers were checking for compliance with hunter safety, the Small Game Regulations and the Migratory Birds Convention Act.
12 charges and 15 warnings were issued as part of the enforcement blitz September 23 to 25 at Hullet Marsh.
Charges and warnings were issued for: · having a loaded firearm on or within 8 metres of a roadway · hunting with an unplugged shotgun · hunting waterfowl with lead shot · hunting without a small game licence · shooting across a roadway · failing to carry small game and migratory game bird licences · failing to fill out and sign migratory game bird permits · unlawfully hunting in a special hunting area
