Afternoon Impaired Driver Arrested In Owen Sound

Owen Sound police officers had a suspected case of "day drinking" Wednesday.

Just before 5pm, police got a call about a possible impaired driver leaving the LCBO on the east side of the city.

An officer spotted the vehicle a short time later and stopped it in the 1400-block of 8th Ave. W.

The officer suspected the driver was impaired by alcohol. Police arrested the 34-year-old woman, before she could pick up her child at daycare.

Breath samples at the Owen Sound Police Service headquarters determined the driver had over four-and-a-half times the legal limit of alcohol in her system.

Her driver’s licence was immediately suspended for 90 days and her vehicle towed and impounded for seven days.

She's been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and operation with over 80 mg of alcohol.
