Four Youths Arrested For Mischief At Owen Sound Soccer Complex

Four young teens from Owen Sound are heading for a Community Justice Program, instead of court.

The four were arrested Wednesday, after a series of mischief and vandalism incidents in the city over the past few weeks.

Police had received numerous complaints about a dark blue Pontiac Sunfire doing "donuts" in vacant parking lots and at the Kiwanis Soccer Complex.

During the day Tuesday, the lock at the gate of the soccer complex with cut with bolt cutters.  A group of people broke into an equipment shed on the property and ransacked it. They also cut a chain and lock securing a ladder, and gained access to the roof of the complex.

The suspect vehicle was spotted Wednesday, when the group returned to the complex, and the four suspects were arrested.

Because they had no prior police involvement, the teens were diverted to a Community Justice Program, outside of the regular court process.

Successful completion of the Community Justice Program will mean that no criminal charges will be laid for these offences. All four were released to their parents.
