Minto Ready To Sell Old Gravel Pit

Minto has accepted a conditional offer on a mostly worked-out municipally-licensed gravel pit.

E. Dennison Contracting Ltd. of Harriston has offered $250,000 for the almost 10-hectare property.

Conditions include the Town of Minto declaring the property surplus and having it appraised.

Council heard the municipality only used the pit once in the past five years and in most cases it’s cheaper for it to buy gravel from other suppliers.

The sale also frees Minto from at least $370,000 in rehabilitation responsibilities for the old pit.
