It took a spike belt and the co-ordinated efforts of the Huron and Perth County OPP detachments to arrest a suspected SUV thief.

Shortly after midnight Tuesday, police spotted a stolen Ford Explorer entered Huron County. It had been taken from a residence in South Bruce and also used in the theft of fuel.

Police followed the Ford Explorer into Perth County. Officers were able to deploy a spike belt on Perth Rd. 145 in West Perth.

The occupants fled from the disabled SUV into a nearby field. Other officers and a canine unit joined the search, and arrested one man around 3:30am that morning.
